How do the 9 weeks grades factor into GPA?Įach 9 weeks grading period counts for 50% of the student’s semester grade in the course. Students may average pass and earn credit in a year-long course where a failing grade was earned in the first semester if the student’s first and second-semester grades average to at least a 70. Students must earn a 70 for the semester to earn credit. This could result in summer school, night school, not being promoted to the next grade level, and possibly delayed graduation. Students who do not receive course credit will be required to regain credit through opportunities provided by the district. What will happen if a student does not earn credit for a course? For a student to be promoted to the 11th grade he/she must have 13 credits including all of English 1, English 2, Algebra 1, one Social Studies class, and Biology.
